A New Round of AgroChemEx & AGRO to be Launched in 2017

AgroChemEx & AGRO 2017, jointly organized by China Crop Protection Industry Association (CCPIA) and China National Chemical Information Centre (CNCIC), will be launched again in Myanmar and Vietnam in May and July 2017 respectively.

I. Overview of AgroChemEx & AGRO

AgroChemEx & AGRO, a series of overseas agriculture exhibitions jointly organized by CCPIA and CNCIC, has been held for ten sessions since 2013 in main emerging agricultural markets all over the world, covering such countries as Turkey, Ukraine, Myanmar, Vietnam, Indonesia, Peru and Egypt.

II. The 11th AgroChemEx & AGRO (Myanmar)

The 11th AgroChemEx & AGRO (AgroChemEx & AGRO Myanmar) is the only professional exhibition in Myanmar specializing in agrochemicals, agricultural machinery and agricultural ancillary equipment, etc. It has gained strong support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation of Myanmar, Ministry of Commerce of Myanmar, the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and other authorities, with positive responses received from the entire industry. AgroChemEx & AGRO Myanmar has been successfully held in Myanmar for three times in Yangon, Naypyidaw and Mandalay respectively.

As one of the main agricultural countries in Southeast Asia, Myanmar covers an arable land area of 250 million mu, with rural residents accounting for 70% of its total population and agricultural production making up about 36% of its GNP. With abundant agricultural resources, Myanmar lags behind in agricultural development compared with other countries, since it still relies on import of fertilizers, pesticides, agricultural machinery and other agricultural production supplies. To improve the situation, the government of Myanmar is now striving to develop its agricultural economy by taking various measures and implementing a comprehensive planning in this regard. Among the prioritized import commodities issued by the Ministry of Commerce of Myanmar, the first category of prioritized import commodities includes such agricultural supplies as agricultural machinery, pesticides, fertilizers and improved varieties. In addition, the government has provided an efficient platform and a sound policy environment to facilitate the revitalization and substantial development of agriculture such as the increase of agricultural loans, reduction of loan interest rate, exemption of tariffs for import of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, farm tools, agricultural machinery and other agricultural supplies, as well as the introduction of foreign capital. Therefore, there are great opportunities for potential investment and commercial development in the field of agriculture in Myanmar. Currently, China is the largest trade partner, the second export market and the largest source of import of Myanmar.

The 11th AgroChemEx & AGRO (AgroChemEx & AGRO Myanmar) will be held again in Mandalay City, Myanmar from May 20 to 21, 2017.

III. The 13th AgroChemEx & AGRO (Vietnam)

The first AgroChemEx & AGRO Vietnam was held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from July 16 to 17, 2015. About 80 exhibitors from such countries and regions as China, India, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore and Vietnam exhibited different categories of products in agriculture-related industries, including agrochemicals, fertilizers, agricultural machinery, agricultural products, technical innovation and services. Supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, the two-day exhibition attracted 3012 professional visitors from Vietnam and other countries and regions, which effectively expanded the influence of the exhibition.

Vietnam has a total population of about 90 million, among which 71% are agricultural population. The agricultural production value accounts for 22% of the GNP of Vietnam. As one of the 15 main agricultural product exporters in the world, Vietnam boasts superior agricultural cultivation conditions, with its main producing areas distributed in Mekong Delta in the south and Red River Delta in the north. However, Vietnam relies mostly on import of such agricultural production supplies as agricultural machinery, chemical fertilizers, pesticides and relevant raw materials. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, in the first 10 months of 2016, Vietnam has imported 329,000 tons of chemical fertilizers or USD 900 million in value, accounting for 40.8% of the total import; USD 550 million of pesticides, at a proportion of 48.2%. China is still the largest chemical fertilizer and pesticide import market of Vietnam.

The 13th AgroChemEx & AGRO (AgroChemEx & AGRO Vietnam) will be launched again in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from July 27 to 28, 2017.
